Location:  Technical Area (TA) -21

Period of use:  1948 to 1951

Size:  2.27 acres

Number and type of disposal units:
Pits (3):  U-shaped of unknown size High Explosives (HE) burning ground
Specific wastes and quantities:
There is no analytical data available on contamination.  HE, HE burn products, semivolatiles, fuel oil, uranium, and asbestos are suspected contaminants in this area.  The surface is also contaminated with barium in unknown levels.
Potential environmental impacts:
Canon de Valle New Mexico Environment Department's (NMED) Hazardous and Radioactive Material Bureau (HRMB) ranks this MDA as an area with a high probability of contaminant mobilization and a moderate to high potential of release to the groundwater.
