Dear colleagues and friends --
It didn't seem appropriate to load up a press release with these details, so I am doing so here.
We are currently meeting on Tuesday afternoons at the Hot Rocks Java Cafe, 4200 West Jemez Road (map) at 3 pm.
This cafe is on the south (Lab) side of the Omega Bridge over Los Alamos Canyon, on the north side of W. Jemez Road, in a 3-story building used by various universities that is located just west of the County fire station. It's on ground level on the west side of the building -- walk around to get there, or go up the elevator from the parking lot.
To get there from town you need to go over the bridge -- a continuation of Diamond Drive -- then through the "large intestine" security loop and the guard stations before heading west on State Road 501 (Jemez Road).
Lately, we are informally meeting for an hour or so and then going to greet the (thick) passing traffic at rush hour with our signs. This Tuesday we will obviously be staying on The Hill prior to the evening talk by Dr. Postol.
We have a few signs. Feel free to bring you own.
Last Tuesday six of us were there. If you can join us please do. We are tolerated by lab security; no arrests are involved. There are some favorable responses from motorists.
FYI we are hearing of discontent in the town regarding pit production. There was more support when the mission was, as someone put it, "softer." Now, this vast manufacturing program is troubling a lot of people.
As you may know, LANL loses 800-900 staff members per year, which have to be replaced and trained, just to break even. LANL, and New Mexico, are often not what new recruits expect.
Best,
Greg
