Reminder: Join us, speak, at the Santa Fe City Council tonight, 9/9/26, at 6:30-7:00 pm September 9, 2026 Friends -- If you care about nuclear weapons, or the future of Santa Fe, and can come to tonight's Santa Fe City Council meeting, please do. It is unusual and precious to be able to speak directly to elected officials about nuclear weapons. What they decide, or fail to decide (which is also a decision) will help nudge national policy, which has many question marks right now. Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) requires partnership with Santa Fe to function in its new Trumpian roles. Will Santa Fe continue to help create what a caller today termed "a corridor of capitulation?" Will Santa Fe align with LANL's new mission -- much like the old mission, but worse -- of producing weapons of mass destruction? The Council will be meeting in its normal location (200 Lincoln Ave., map), where some of us will speak at circa 7 pm during "Petitions from the Floor" in favor of a Council resolution opposing plutonium warhead core ("pit") production at LANL. You can attend virtually (see the agenda), but in-person attendance is much better. You can bring your own sign; we will also have some. You will have two minutes to speak. What we are asking for was spelled out in full in our most recent letter, along with some pertinent news. City Council contact information is here.
